About

Kim Hurley is a lighting designer, videographer, and researcher on the intersection between peace and art.

More about me: I grew up in Syracuse, NY where I later attended Le Moyne College, graduating with a degree in Peace and Global Studies and Theatre Arts. After graduating, I used the opportunity of graduate school to move to New York City, where I earned my M.A. in International Affairs at the New School. Despite a strong background in all things international, my true passion lies in the theatre, especially the marriage between theatre and revolution, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding.

Over four years of study at Le Moyne, I designed numerous lights for Le Moyne Student Dance Company’s performances (which I was also a member of), designed sets, and explored lighting, scenic, and costume design through numerous courses.  I also studied the use of theatre in political situations as part of a theoretical framework.

I most recently served as resident lighting designer for the New York Opera Exchange, and currently am available for projects around the greater New York area.
