We felt that a simplified platform structure would be best, both for the audience and for the actors. The idea we based our structure on is curves- these lines are easier on the eyes, and are typically more pleasing to children. The curved lines imply a relaxed atmosphere and give a hint of a circus atmosphere. The white surface was implemented because it can be very versatile and also will not detract attention from other set details or the actors. The curved lines and colored circles were used to enhance the circus atmosphere, to be visually engaging for an audience of children, and also to add a bit of complexity to an otherwise completely blank surface. Also, the design is relatively low- at the highest point on the platform, the actors would be standing at a maximum of 4 feet from the ground. It also allows for a great deal of mobility.
